Candle Light March on 1st November 2011

Human Right Group such as PUDR, PUCL who had published the report  ‘Who Are the Guilty’ in 1984 are organizing a   Candle Light Vigil at India Gate on Ist November 2011 at 5.30 PM to Pay homage to those killed in this November 1984 Carnage and to demand the punishment for the guilty.

We condemn the action of the Delhi Police shielding the guilty of the November 1984 Carnage.  A Chargesheet in a murder case against Sajjan Kumar went missing for 18 years.  The chargesheet was prepared and finally signed on 8th April 1992, but was never filed in the Court.  Inspite of the clarification from the Court, Delhi Police has not filed this chargesheet till today.

In another case, related to Delhi Cantt Police Station, the case was transferred to CBI alongwith all relevant papers in October 2005, however 2 months after that Delhi Police filed a closure report in Court giving clean chit to Sajjan  Kumar.  Delhi High Court  (Justice Vipin Sanghi) has passed strictures against Delhi Police and directed the Police Commissioner to hold enquiry and take action against the guilty Police Officers within 6 months.  Though these directions were given on 5th July 2010 till today no action has been taken against guilty Police officials by Delhi Police.

These organizations (PUCL, PUDR and Lok Raj Sangathan) are also involving the University and College students and many other Human Right Groups and prominent citizens are joining them in this March.  The posters, a copy of which is attached herewith have been pasted in the Universities and Colleges of Delhi.

You are requested to attend.

Sajjan Kumar Matter- proceeding before Supreme Court

In the Supreme Court today, Sajjan Kumar case-arguments went on for the whole day. U. U. Lalit argued for Sajjan Kumar and Harin P Raval, ASG argued for the CBI. Shri Dushyant Dave and Mr. Phoolka appeared for the victims.
CBI argued that Delhi Police’s role has been partisan from very beginning, first it did not register any case on complaint of Jagdish Kaur, and then later, it filed closure report after investigations had been transfered to CBI.

Arguements to continue on Friday, 10th September 2010

Today’s Proceedings summary – Sajjan Kumar’s Case in Supreme Court

Supreme Court has listed Sajjan Kumar’s case for final disposal on 7th September. Dushyant Dave appeared for the victims pro-bono. Copy of the application of victims Jagdidh kaur and Nirprit Kaur is also on the blog. CBI has alleged in its counter affidavit filed before the Supreme Court that Delhi Police made clandestine attempt to hush up the matter when Delhi Police filed closure report in this case after investigation was transferred to CBI.
